Acupuncture
My acupuncture degree is in traditional Chinese Medicine. Since graduating, I have developed a strong interest in Japanese acupuncture and my techniques are influenced by this style of work. Either style is effective but Japanese style acupuncture is a very gentle technique and it's effect very nourishing on the body.
Japanese acupuncture: uses very shallow needling and very fine gauge needles. Body understanding is arrived at by tongue and pulse diagnosis along with abdominal palpation.
Moxibustion: uses plant material (moxa wool) in a non-needle technique. Ancient Chinese scrolls indicate that moxa would have been used long before needles were developed. The plant is process and used in a compressed 'incense stick' form or loose on the needle top or skin.
Naturopathy
Based on the philosophy that good food, exercise, being in nature, healthy sleep habits and supportive social network will balance the human body and help maintain a state of health. Naturopathy includes the use of dietary adjustment, lifestyle recommendations with herbal medicine and nutritional supplementation where appropriate.
